Common Sense, People!

How stupid can you be?  I was making a cake for a family gathering and I couldn't help but read the directions.  Check out the BAKE section.

Wait!?!?!  I shouldn't stick my finger in something that was in a hot oven for over half an hour?  My other question is who was the first person to do this, sue the company, and win?  Why else would they put it on the package?  Also I should note that this is the Best Choice brand and it almost makes sense to me that it's a cheap store brand that had this issue with a customer.  Although, I could see Jack doing this...  What do you say Rachael?

  1. Haha, that's why he doesn't do any baking! I have caught him doing some other risky cooking no-nos like grabbing something out of the oven with his shirt rather than a hot pad. Ouch!

  2. That's not what they mean =) Back in the day when things were made from scratch we used to use the "finger test" to check for doneness. You would lightly tap the top of the cake with your finger. If, when you moved your finger, the cake bounced back it was done. If a little indent was left in the spot, then it needed a few more minutes. The new "fancy" cake mixes cook a bit differently then their from scratch relatives, so the finger touch/tap is not reliable. That is what they are referring to =)
